Craig Hurst - Trumpet
Dr. Craig W. Hurst is Emeritus Professor of Music at the University of Milwaukee at Waukesha where he continues to direct the Windy Hill Symphonic Band. Hurst frequently performs with the Jazz Express Big Band and the Waukesha Park, Recreation and Forestry Band. Dr. Hurst is also associate director of the Southeastern Wisconsin New Horizons Band. Craig also is occupied as a leader with the Windy Hill Brass, 'Fessor Hurst And His Windy Hill Wizzards Ragtime and Jazz Orchestra, an eight piece modern jazz band HORNZZ (www.HORNZZ.com), a New Orleans style brass band (intheSHAW brass band), an experimental jazz brass trio THE BIG FOUR. He an his wife Nancy also perform as the piano/trumpet duo BRASS and IVORY.
Dave Smith - Trombone
Dave Smith was born and raised in Chicago, Il. Started playing professionally by age 16 in rock and blues bands. Attended NIU and played in jazz ensembles and R&B bands. Four year hitch in USAF Bands featured as Lead and Solo trombonist. Attended and played at UW-Stevens Point. Finally settled in Milwaukee area, played in Booze Brothers Show Band and Revue (13 years) and free lanced in almost every style of band over the past 25+ years. Most notably Eddie Butts Band, Paul Spencer Group, Cold Sweat and The Brew City Horns.
Andy Hacker - Tuba
Andrew Hacker, a native of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, is Director of Bands at Waukesha South, with responsibilities for all aspects of South’s Band Program. Mr. Hacker began playing tuba at the age of eleven and is an active musician in the state of Wisconsin. He frequently performs on tuba, bass trombone and euphonium with a wide range of ensembles.
Andy enjoys guest conducting and frequently spends time in front of The Youth Wind Orchestra of Wisconsin. In 2009, Andy was invited to lecture on the topic of Improvisation Through Folk Wind Music for the international convention of Gauverband Nordamerika in Toledo, Ohio. He repeated this clinic at the 2011 conference of Gauverband Nordamerika in Orlando, Florida. Andy plays an active role in folk wind music in the Midwest and is the founder and musical director of Blaskapelle Milwaukee, an 18-piece European-style wind ensemble. Having studied at Carroll University, Andy holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Education.
